Can any metal be powder coated?
Essentially, YES! Any bare metal can be powder coated, not sure? Just give us a call to discuss your requirements.
How much does it cost? How long does it take?
Every job is different, hence pricing and time is dependent on a number of factors, including the work involved, the size and condition of your item(s). If you’d like us to provide a quote, you can call into our office with your item or email us some photos. It’s important to include all dimensions, the type of metal and condition including as much detail as possible (e.g. flaking paint, rust, etc.), will help us understand the scope of your project.
What services are available?
Metal stripping (sand blasting) and powder coating services are available at Southern Powder Coaters. When blasting metal, we recommend a primer coat to seal the metal and prevent moisture absorption, minimising future issues with corrosion. We recommend blasting for steel items and cast aluminium only. Extruded aluminium is not recommended for blasting.
How should I maintain my powder coating?

The effects of ultra violet light atmospheric pollution, general dirt, grime and salt deposits can all accumulate over time and should be removed at regular intervals.

Steps to cleaning your powder coating :

  1. Remove loose deposits with a wet sponge rather than risk micro scratching the surface by dusting.
  2. Using a soft brush and mild detergent in warm water, clean the powder coating to remove any dust, salt or other deposits.
  3. Always rinse after cleaning to remove any remaining detergent.
